Two pupils from Dungannon Primary School were rewarded on Wednesday evening, 18th June for their winning entries in the BELONG Anti-Bullying Art Competition. Winner Konrad Kurek (P7) and runner up Viktorija Vasiljeva (P7) were presented during the school’s annual P7 graduation ceremony with their prizes and certificates by BELONG’s Anti-Bullying Programme Officer Joanne Donnelly.
The competition ran by BELONG, an early intervention family support programme dedicated to promoting a sense of belonging amongst Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) children and young people is part of the programme’s development of a KS2 anti-bullying resource for schools. It is intended that the children’s art entries will be included within the resource.
BELONG Anti-Bullying Programme Officer, Joanne Donnelly said:
“I am delighted to present prizes to both Konrad and Viktorija for their powerful and striking competition entries. The category of the competition that they were successful in was “Bullying Due to Race, Faith and Culture” and these two entries clearly visualised and depicted the message that within our community we all need to take a stand against racism and racial bullying.”
